FAQs
I don't know anything about starting a website . . . Help!
You're a web-seeker newbie, are you? Okay, take a deep breath, I got you covered. Take a look at our HELP! section that will get you started on the right foot.
How much does a website cost?
An arm, a leg and a million dollars. Nah, not really. The price depends on the project you need, but my basic rates for a brochure site is $175/per design page and $50/per coded page. Please request a quote if you're unable to determine your cost from our rate sheet.
How long does it take for my website to be completed?
I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to give the answer you don't want to hear: There is no set date. Throughout the design, coding and testing process, it could take days or weeks, depending on the scope of your project. Okay, you've yanked my chain enough, I'll give you a ballpark. For a regular brochure website, you're looking at an average turn-around of ten business days, but then I've had websites up within four days . . . agh, we're back to the "there is no set date" again . . .
My website doesn't show up in the search engines.
No biting your nails in a frenzy of panic! If your website has only been live for a short period of time, it can take the search engines up to 30 days to find and start indexing your website. Please be patient during this process.
How do I update my website?
There are two options for updating your website: 1) Pay a Web Programmer their hourly fee whenever you want your site updated or 2) Get a CMS integrated into your site. CMS stands for Content Management System, and allows you to add/edit/delete content on your site, including imagery. This option is more costly, but if you're going to be updating your site a lot, it would probably be worth the investment.
What is your hourly rate?
$30/hr. You can view my rates here.
Can I see how many visitors I've had to my website?
In person? No. Over the net? Definitely. Just make sure you have your glasses on, it would be hard to read all those big numbers without it. Usually the web hosting company you sign up with provides a control panel that gives you full statistics on daily, monthly and yearly site visits. I can't say the same for all the web hosting companies out there, but the one I'm affiliated with does. Check out Lunarpages.com. Google also provides a service called "Google Analytics" that allows you to track your website statistics through them. Talk to your Website Developer about this option.
I don't have a lot of money, but I really need a website!
Tell you what - we'll swap. You build me a truck and I'll build you a website. Nah, I'm teasing (unless you're a mechanic . . .) I do work around realistic small budgets.
I have a store of discounted pre-designed website templates, logos and a whole bunch more that could work within your budget, starting at $25.00 . . . please visit www.predesignedtemplates.com or find out more about our online store here.
